Author: Dr. Darren L. Cooper
Dr. Darren L. Cooper, DSW, LCSW, is a psychotherapist, veteran, author, and advocate for healing and transformation. With over two decades of experience in social work—including child protection, crisis intervention, and private practice—he brings a rare depth of compassion and insight to every page he writes.
Raised in Newark, New Jersey and shaped by life’s hard-earned lessons, Dr. Cooper knows what it means to rise through adversity. His writing is grounded in lived experience and driven by a deep calling to uplift others—especially Black single mothers raising sons.
His debut book, Mom’s Just Don’t Understand, is part guide, part conversation, and part healing journey. It was written not from a mountaintop, but from the frontlines—where real families struggle, grow, and overcome.
Today, through Olivet Publications and his outreach work, Dr. Cooper continues to speak, write, and mentor with one goal in mind: helping people walk their path with greater clarity, purpose, and peace.
